Kylie planning 'anti-tour' for superfans

Kylie is working on an "anti-tour" idea where she'll only perform rare tracks in intimate venues.

After touring the world with her massive Aphrodite Live show, the Aussie pop star is now keen to play a handful of concerts for her most devoted fans who want to hear her perform B-sides live.

In an interview with her sister Dannii for MyDaily.co.uk, Minogue says, "I really like the idea of an anti-tour. The opposite of this (Aphrodite Live). I don't think I can get bigger than this production.

"It would be really great to do tiny, intimate shows; no dancing, no lights, there's nothing flash about it.

(I'd be) performing songs that would never ever, ever have a hope in hell of being in a show like this.

"(It would be) only fan-known B-sides or songs that I've just done once."

“PUT YOUR HANDS UP”REMIX EP TO BE RELEASED ON MAY 31st

(New York, NY – April 27, 2011) – International Pop superstar Kylie Minogue will kick off the opening night of the North American Aphrodite – Live 2011 leg of her world tour tomorrow night in Montreal before hitting the U.S. on Friday night at Boston’s Bell Centre. This is Kylie’s most extensive North American outing to date as the pop goddess will play 16 shows including a 3-night stint at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, a return to the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and will close at the legendary Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas before heading to Australia and South Africa (full schedule below). Kylie played shows in Japan this past week after wrapping the European Aphrodite – Les Folies arena leg of the tour which began in February and was described as “…what might just be the most meticulously designed arena show ever” and “one hell of a production and a thoroughly sophisticated one at that” by The Evening Herald in Ireland and UK’s Daily Star said that Kylie “set a new benchmark for arena shows…and redefined the term 'spectacular' along the way.”

To celebrate the tour, Astralwerks Records will release a new exclusive digital EP North American Tour Bonus Edition on May 3rd. The EP consists of 5 live recordings, three from a semi-acoustic BBC Live Lounge session - “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head,” “All The Lovers” and “Get Outta My Way”, and two recorded live in New York in October 2009 during Kylie’s first North American Tour - “Better Than Today” and “Confide In Me”. As a special fan treat the EP also includes a short film featuring behind the scenes footage of Kylie on tour plus original tour wardrobe sketches by Dolce & Gabbana.

In addition a new remix EP for the song “Put Your Hands Up” will be released on May 31st which will include the album track with brand new remixes including the Pete Hammond remix that Kylie shared with fans as a thank you for the support of the song during the live shows on the European leg of the tour. Kylie Minogue notches an impressive Billboard chart first, as, by holding down the Nos. 1 and 3 slots on this week's Dance/Club Play Songs survey, she becomes the first act to claim two of the top three ranks concurrently in the tally's nearly 35-year history.

Minogue crowns the list with "Better Than Today," from her "Aphrodite" album, while two rungs down, she's featured on Taio Cruz's "Higher" (with Travie McCoy). "Better Than Today" is Minogue's sixth Dance/Club Play Songs No. 1, and the third straight topper from "Aphrodite." The album previously yielded the leaders "All the Lovers" and "Get Outta My Way."

"I absolutely love knowing that there's such huge support for my songs in the U.S. club scene," Minogue tells Billboard. "To hit the No. 1 spot three times in a row is amazing and to break a Club chart record with two tracks in the top three is wonderful."

"Higher" was originally a solo Cruz effort from his "Rokkstar" album, but was reissued outside the U.S. with Minogue on guest vocals, and in America with McCoy.

Yet, dance clubs in the U.S. were serviced with "Higher" remixes featuring both Minogue and McCoy (including versions that blended the two together). Hence, all three acts share space on the Dance/Club Play Songs chart listing for "Higher."

Minogue kicked off her lavish Les Folies tour in Herning, Denmark, Feb. 19. The trek continues across Europe through April 12.
After finishing the European leg of the journey with a five-night stand at London's O2 Arena, Mingoue ventures to Japan, with a new configuration of the tour (Aphrodite Live 2011), beginning April 23.

Minogue reaches North America April 28 in Montreal, with her first U.S. date in Boston April 29. The tour wraps May 22 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The record-breaking chart queen adds, "I can't wait to bring my Aphrodite tour to the States to celebrate!"

Aphrodite Les Folies Tour stage - a 'wet dream'

Kylie Minogue has described the stage for her upcoming Aphrodite Les Folies Tour as a ‘techie’s wet dream’.
In a You Tube video of rehearsals for the concert, which opens in Europe in 10 days, Minogue gushes about the “The stage is looking … can I say it’s a techie’s wet dream out there,” she said.

The tour, which the diva promises will be her most extravagant yet, already covers 54 dates around the world with the latest being a third night at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Unfortunately, there is still no word about an Australian leg, but there is a nice gap in Kylie’s schedule before her Asian shows and sources have told the Star Observer to expect a visit from the diminutive pop diva around July/August.
In a rather bold statement, the pop legend promises fan “the most technologically advanced and extravagant stage that has ever been built to date”.

With a whopping $25 million price tag – it has a lot to prove!

The heart-shaped stage incorporates one million moving parts, seven lifts, 30 water fountains and, somewhat intruigingly, a rain curtain.

According to a press release issued by 42-year-old diva, it is “the best, most complex and most exceptional stage that has ever been built for a venue”.

That’s not even mentioning the water show (with the much talked about splash zones), which was developed by the same team that tinkered with Disney’s California Adventure theme parks, or the “fly system”, which was modelled on Spider-Man the musical.
Apparently that is a revolutionary way of transporting singers and musicians across stage.
Les Folies will feature 10 dancers, eight acrobats, five live musicians and two backing singers.
There will be 200 costumes and a crew of 120 people to transport the 45-tonne set using 10 lorries.

The world tour starts February 19th in Denmark and will play in arenas throughout Europe & Japan before hitting Canada, U.S. and Mexico. The Aphrodite – Live 2011 tour promises to be an absolute landmark in the career of Kylie Minogue who is renowned for her groundbreaking live shows. Pre-sale tickets for the U.S. leg of the tour begin on January 14th for American Express card holders and Kylie’s fanbase with public on sale beginning January 22nd.

In the fall of 2009 Kylie stormed America to sell out her first ever North American tour. The 6-city tour kicked off in Oakland and made stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and New York, wowing fans and critics alike at each stop. Entertainment Weekly called the show a “two-hour post-disco fantasia of strobe, bass, and glitter—an all-out spectacle.” The New York Times claimed “The concert (was) efficient, clobbering, expensive, generous…close to an alternate reality”; high praise indeed and the 2011 show promises to be bigger and better in every way!

After the run-away success of the last tour Kylie will be presenting the North American version of Aphrodite – Live 2011 in more intimate rooms in the States, where possible, including a much anticipated return to the Hammerstein Ballroom in NY and the Hollywood Bowl in LA.

The North American dates are being presented by Logo TV and produced by Los Angeles-based concert promotion firm Bill Silva Presents (BSP), who also produced the 2009 North American tour.

Kylie’s eleventh album Aphrodite was released in July and debuted at #19 in the U.S., marking her highest U.S. chart position since 2002’s Fever. Aphrodite became Kylie’s fifth #1 album in the UK, hitting the top spot a full 22 years to the week since her debut album Kylie entered the chart. The album also made Kylie the first solo artist in the history of the UK charts to have a #1 album in four different decades. Around the globe Aphrodite debuted in the top 10 in thirteen different countries.

Kylie Minogue's peeps have just released some amazing information about her upcoming Aphrodite Les Folies and it sounds so exciting!

According to her Facebook page, the tour will have the "most technologically advanced and extravagant stage that has ever been built to date." There will be 1 million movable parts associated with the stage, seven lifts, 600 light sources, a special "Fly System," which was inspired by the Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Broadway and a "Wet Zone."

Oh yes, water plays a HUGE factor into the staging. Just look at the picture they posted. Those jets are going to be able to shoot 30 meters into the air, according to insiders. And that's not all! As we understand it, the developers of the water shows at Bellagio and the Disney California Adventure theme park lent a hand in creating the water elements for the tour!

Sounds incredible!

We're told that the grand total for everything, from the staging to the 200 costumes to the 20 air acrobats is $25 million! A pretty penny - but totally worth it!

We can't even believe what we're reading! This sounds so phenomenal!

The second single from the album ‘Get Outta My Way‘ is ready to go and is due to be released in the UK on 27th September. The single is a glorious radio friendly track, thanks to it’s house piano hook which runs throughout the song and its infectious chorus… it also sounds grrrreat live! The video is a brightly colourful extravaganza – Kylie looks stunningly beautiful and visually, it includes several elements from the album artwork and general look associated with the campaign so far (we know what we mean, all things floaty, the colours, movements etc)! The video will premiere officially on 3rd September at 11am here in the UK.

‘Get Outta My Way’ will be available in various physical formats (2 CD’s and 7″ vinyl), all of which can be bought online from Record Store for £5.99. The remixes from the maxi CD single will also be available as part of a digital EP released on 27th September as well.
It happens to be a big giant bummer that there is no new b-side included with this single as you can’t beat a good old Kylie b-side… you can’t have it all your own way, all of the time though can you!

Kylie confirmed that "Get Outta My Way" would be released as the second single at the album launch party in Ibiza on 5 July 2010. The song was first made available to the public in the promotional megamix of the album prior to release.

"Get Outta My Way" was written and produced by by Cutfather, Lucas Secon, Damon Sharpe, Peter Wallevik and Daniel Davidsen, and co-produced by Stuart Price. In an interview with HitQuarters, Secon described the track as "sexy electro disco with some clever lyrics and some real catchy melodies. "He said the song wasn't written for any particular artist and at one point four different artists wanted to cut it as their first single before it was claimed by Kylie.

The video was filmed at Pinewood Studios, London Wednesday 18 August.

The single will be released as the second single on 27 September 2010 in the following formats:

News came today from both Hurts (aka the new Pet Shop Boys) and Kylie Minogue that a duet between them titled "Devotion" will indeed appear on the Manchester, England duo's forthcoming debut LP Happiness.

NME posted confirmation from Hurts frontman Theo Hutchcraft earlier today:

"A few weeks ago we finished our album, but it did not feel complete. We have written an album, mainly about women, which felt lost without the salvation of a woman.

"We wrote a song about infidelity called 'Devotion'. Since we have enjoyed an illicit life-long love affair with Kylie Minogue, we mustered up every ounce of courage we had and asked her if she would like to sing the song with us. She said yes. The delicate yet powerful way she expresses the fragility of female emotion has added a magical missing ingredient to an album about love, loss and happiness. If you don't ask, you don't get… I guess."

Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite is her fifth UK number one album

Aphrodite, the pint-sized popstrel's eleventh studio album, pushed rapper Eminem and his album Recovery into the number two spot.

The first single from the 12-track album, All The Lovers, is sitting at number nine in the singles chart.

Kylie has revealed that the single was one of the last tracks to be written for the album, but she knew it had to be the first single since it 'sums up the euphoria of the album perfectly'.

'I've been completely overwhelmed by the reaction to Aphrodite and to hear that the album has gone to number one is the most amazing news. I am ecstatic,' she said of her latest chart-topper.

Kylie: The evolution of a style chameleon

'My hopes for this album were that people would be moved, that the songs could bring about emotion.

'The euphoric heart of this album has taken flight and the response has been nothing short of incredible.'

The 42-year-old, who performed songs from Aphrodite during an early-morning gig at London's G-A-Y nightclub on Sunday, also thanked 'the many talented and dedicated people with whom I work and the fans who have been so supportive all these years'.

Madonna collaborator Stuart Price, Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears, Calvin Harris and Tim Rice-Oxley from the band Keane are among those who worked with Kylie on Aphrodite.

The album is the singer's fifth number one in the UK, following Enjoy Yourself in 1989, her greatest hits package in 1992 and Fever in 2001.

Kylie is believed to have watched Spain's World Cup victory in London, after which she tweeted her delight at the team's 1-0 triumph over Holland.

Her current boyfriend, Andres Velencoso, hails from the winning nation.

Kylie has been busy this weekend as she's been shooting the music video for her brand new single 'All the Lovers' due to release next july. The video is directed by Joseph Khan who has previously worked with Janet Jackson, Lady GaGa, Britney Spears and Kelly Clarkson.

Kylie opted for downtown Los Angeles as the location for the new video, in which she cavorts and writhes with a group of sexy shirtless men.

The new track, taken from Kylie's upcoming album Aphrodite, will premiere on UK radio stations on May 14, followed by a release in the U.S.

She once claimed to have given up cosmetic procedures. If so, Kylie must have found some other way of turning back the clock.

Looking at least a decade younger than her 41 years, Kylie was the belle of the ball at the fourth annual Linked Against Leukemia DKMS charity gala in New York.

And clearly it wasn't just her frock she had spent time and preparation on.

Kylie unveiled a wrinkle free forehead and flawless complexion at the event last night.

The singer, preparing to release new album Aphrodite wore her hair pulled back off her face to reveal glowing skin.

Her nude cinched in at the waist dress with it's bandage effect wrappings, and sheer top embellished with crystals should have taken centre stage. But all eyes were on the 41-year-old's taut face.

Last year she finally admitted one of the worst-kept secrets in showbiz - that she has had Botox.

She also hinted she may have dabbled in other procedures to keep her looking young.

Kylie told Elle magazine: 'I've tried Botox, I've tried them all.

She added: 'I'm definitely not one of those people who says, "You shouldn't do this." Everyone can individually do what they want.

'For all time women have wanted to, for the most part, look their best.

'It's just that what we have available to us today is what it is today and if you want to take advantage of it, yeah.'

Aphrodite - album and single preview

FIRST UP: THE SINGLE IS BIG BOLD DANCEABLE PROPER KYLIE.

This is the most important news, because if the singles come in the wrong order the whole thing falls apart. 'All The Lovers' is the comeback single '2 Hearts' wasn't, which is funny because it's written by the same people (ie the artists formerly known as Kish Mauve). In tone it's a bit like 'I Believe In You' (which until now was Kylie's best single since 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head') with a more danceable edge; a confident, worldly-wise voice in 'All The Lovers' replaces the slightly naive optimism of 'I Believe In You'. The song starts off with Kylie quietly singing "dance, it's all I wanna do, why won't you move? I'm standing here with you, why won't you move?". Kylie suggests that the dancing is important "even if it throws you to the fire, fire, fire" and as the HUGE MASSIVE CHORUS storms into view it's clear that the song's not really about relaxing while you dance, it's about relaxing into a relationship. In the chorus - backed by a brilliantly wibbly synth riff - Kylie sings "all the lovers that have gone before, they don't compare to you, don't be frightened, just give me a little bit more, they don't compare, all the lovers". The lyrics might not read like much but they're proper air-punchingly euphoric and defiant and a little bit overwhelming in the song. One of the oddities with 'X' seemed to be that some Fairly Fundamental Things had happened in Kylie's life but were ignored in the tunes. Part of this single's likeability comes from its message that "yes, a lot's happened and we've both been around the block a bit but what we have here is properly amazing so calm down and let's just get on with it". After a bit of verse-chorus-verse-chorus action everything drops out for the middle eight where it goes all breathy and intimate and hot and sweaty with Kylie's repeated request to dance then the track EXPLODES into the music from that YouTube clip she put up last week. It's confident and exciting and completely brilliant if not something of a masterpiece and all in all is 'a bit of a moment'. Apparently 'All The Lovers' only really came up in the last three weeks and very quickly took the position of lead single.

SECONDLY: OTHER TRACKS ARE ALSO V GOOD.

Stuart played us a handful of other tracks from the album. 'Get Out Of My Way' could well be this album's 'Love At First Sight'; 'Better Than Today', while similar to the version Kylie performed live last year, now seems to have a punchier, more stompsome production. Another song Stuart played us even though he wasn't meant to but what are they going to do sack him is a slightly 'Wow'-esque number which has a BRILLIANT 'Stuart Price moment' (you'll know it when you hear it) plus another segment in which everything falls away - Stuart describes this is "the moment in a club when you can hear glasses clinking". How very posh - the clubs we go to put everything in plastics. (NB 'Get Out Of My Way' will sound amazing in the sort of club that doesn't trust its clientele with glassware.)

THE TITLE TRACK IS IMMENSE AND RIDICULOUS AND FANTASTIC.

'Aphrodite' is the title track on 'Aphrodite', hence the name. Stuart likes its 'Rhythm Nation'-esque qualities; we felt there was a slight Art Of Noise-ish, 'True Faith'-ey thing going on. It would have fitted in well on 'X' and would have been one of the album's best tracks, not least for the line "it's the truth, it's a fact, I was gone and now I'm back". It's a lyric that underlines and puts into capital letters the idea that this, not 'X', is really Kylie's big comeback album. Elsewhere in the song there's a great "I'm going back and forth and forth and back, can you feel me in stereo" hook along with military drums and handclaps. On one listen it doesn't feel like a single but we think it's one of the songs that'll end up defining the album.

PROPER KYLIE IS BACK BACK BACK.

"She's got that glint in her eye," Stuart notes.

SONGS ON THE ALBUM WERE SUBJECT TO A 'PARTON TEST'.

In an interesting (and slightly demented) twist on the 'old grey whistle test' method of identifying potential hits, Stuart and Kylie knew a song would work if it made sense when sung in the style of Dolly Parton. Apparently Kylie does a particularly good Dolly version of 'All The Lovers'. Vocals on tracks that had already been recorded were re-recorded in Stuart's studio and rather than singing in a vocal booth Kylie would sing (using the pictured microphone) standing right in front of Stuart. The idea was to give 'Aphrodite' a sense of fun and spontaneity - and cohesion - that wasn't there with 'X'.

THE BEST SONGS WENT ON THE ALBUM.

Stuart explains that he got involved with 'Aphrodite' last October when he met Kylie in New York for a writing session. From that session "three or four" tracks remain, and from that point onwards he became a very significant force in the album's completion. As executive producer he's been responsible for shaping the album's sound - at one point on Friday he described it as a 'houseparty' record - which has meant a role in deciding which songs did and didn't make the cut but also mixing tracks so they all feel like they're part of the same album. Songs were picked, Stuart says, not because of who wrote or produced them, but because of how good they were. From what he said last week Stuart's involvement on a lot of songs has been slightly more than the conventional idea of mixing a track but slightly less than the conventional idea of producing it. Basically everything's gone through a bit of a Stuart Price filter so that it doesn't sound like some dickhead A&R has just aimlessly scooped a load of tracks off a shelf, chucked them in a sack, Sellotaped a photo of Kylie to the front, opened his window and shouted "THAT'LL BE £7.99 PLEASE" at people in the street.

NO BALLADS.

We asked Stuart if there were any ballads on the album and he said no (AMAZING), then clarified that point by adding "not in the accepted sense". When we expressed some relief at this, commenting that Kylie wasn't really known for her ballads, Stuart countered that 'Especially For You' was in fact something of a tune. It was hard to disagree with his point and that's a great example of why Stuart's precisely the sort of person who should be in charge not just of this album but ALL OTHER ALBUMS BY EVERYONE EVER. His "not ballads in the accepted sense" comment may mean that there are some interesting sort-of-ballad-sort-of-not moments, and 'All The Lovers' does have that slightly sad, crying-at-the-discotheque upbeat discoballad quality everybody loves. Stuart added that some ballads were recorded during the 'Aphrodite' sessions but just weren't quite right for this album and may well appear in the future when there's a place for them.

AND FINALLY: IT'S GOING TO BE A CONTINUOUS MIX

This may not excite you very much but it excited us an obscene amount. In keeping with the 'this is an album not just a selection of tracks' idea, Stuart's currently finding a way of stitching the songs together. The plan is that it won't be a non-stop megamix but there'll be a natural continuous flow that creates an 'official' order for the album's tracks. (Stuart didn't say this himself, but we guess it'll be a bit like Madonna's 'Confessions...'.) In an era when fans routinely create their own album running orders in iTunes, presenting 'Aphrodite' as a definitively sequenced body of work is a great way of showcasing Kylie's own confidence in what's shaping up to be her best album since 'Light Years'.

In summary: a truly incredible comeback single that'll sit alongside Scissor Sisters' 'Fire With Fire' as a solid gold summer pop anthem, the other tracks sound great, Kylie's on great form vocally, there's no need for anybody to panic about 'X Mark 2' and we can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks. Kylie announces her new album APHRODITE

Kylie Minogue has been reinvented as a Greek goddess, as she announced details of her return with a new album.

She poses as the goddess of love Aphrodite - who gives her name to the singer's 11th studio album - for the cover of her new release, due out in July.

Kylie is seen in flowing, windswept blue robes, arms held aloft and looking to the heavens in the shot. It could be the answer to the prayers of her record bosses at struggling EMI, which owns her label Parlophone.

Details were released on the singer's website along with a snippet of her forthcoming single 'All The Lovers' which is out on June 28.

The album sees her working with Madonna collaborator Stuart Price who is executive producer. He is also among the songwriters, as well as Scissor Sisters star Jake Shears, Calvin Harris, Nerina Pallot and Tim Rice-Oxley from the band Keane.

Kylie said: "The single was one of the last tracks to be written for the album. As I was recording it I knew that All The Lovers had to be the first single - it sums up the euphoria of the album perfectly.

"It gives me goose-bumps, so I'm really excited to hear what everyone thinks of it."

Price said: "All The Lovers is a magical song and sums up everything that the album is: Kylie doing pop dance music at her best.

"When you look in your mind's eye at everything Kylie is, it's on this record."

In November 1990 Kylie was back with 'Rhythm Of Love' and a new sexy and provocative image showing how much she wanted to change.

Recorded in London and Los Angeles in the spring and summer of 1990, the album contains four songs by Kylie in partnership with the U.S. producers Stephen Bray (Madonna), Keith Cohen (Paula Abdul) and Michael Jay (Martika). The remaining seven songs are written and produced by Stock Aitken & Waterman hits including 'Better The Devil You Know ',' Step Back In Time ',' What Do I Have To Do' and 'Shocked'.

Kylie's on a new single for victims of Haiti

British producer Simon Cowell is leading a campaign on behalf of earthquake victims in Haiti, as reports the Daily Mail. He will produce the remake of the REM song "Everybody Hurts". The money raised will go to Haiti. Simon invited big names in music such as Kylie Minogue, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Leona Lewis, Susan Boyle, Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry and Take That to participate in the recording of the single. "We have little time to campaign and people of Haiti needs all the help we can give, as soon as possible. I want to record this song with different singers and I hope everyone of the entertainment industry to join us "says Cowell.

The song is available in the shops and to download from February 8.

She may be a superstar everywhere but the United States, but American audiences were the first to get a sneak preview of Kylie Minogue's 10th studio set on her recent U.S. tour.

The happy-go-lucky disco-pop of "Better Than Today" is a good benchmark for the new album, according to insiders, which sees the Australian star going back to basics after 2007's eclectic "X."

That album-which sold 462,000 copies in the United Kingdom, according to the Official Charts Co.-featured multiple songwriting collaborations, but the new record is largely co-written with British singer/songwriter Nerina Pallot and produced by Stuart Price, most famous for his work with Madonna.

"Kylie makes pop records," Parlophone's Leonard says. "What we're trying to achieve is an album that has a sound and feel all the way through. We've got the people and songs in place to do that." "X" only sold 38,000 copies stateside, according to Nielsen SoundScan, but Leonard expects the United States to be a priority this time around, after rave reviews for her debut American tour. "She's had sporadic success there before," he says, "but there's a lot of anticipation in the U.S. for Kylie to deliver this record."

Kylie Minogue looked exceptionally happy as she left her London home earlier today with her pal/stylist Will Baker in tow.

And she’s got good reason to have a big old smile on her face at the moment: her sister’s (possibly) pregnant and according to reports she’s ahead of schedule for the recording of her new album.

Apparently the pint-sized pop princess surprised record bosses earlier this month when she handed them eight completed tracks from her new album despite the fact that the project isn’t due to be completed until much later in 2010.

However there’s still said to be "some way to go" before the album – which is being produced by Stuart Price – is fully completed…
